What Sets Us Apart

The Spray Foam Consulting Difference

01

Hands-on equipment training — startup, shutdown, and park procedures

02

Proper PPE protocols: fresh air systems, organic vapor cartridges, chemical-rated gloves

03

A-side & B-side chemical handling and safety (isocyanate & polyurethane resin)

04

Pressure calibration (900–1500 PSI sweet spots for different applications)

05

Heater temperature optimization (A-side, B-side, and hose heat calibration)

06

TSL (Throat Seal Liquid) maintenance to prevent pump crystallization

07

Gun maintenance, greasing procedures, and CU-6 solvent cleaning

08

Recirculation mode setup to keep ISO moving during downtime

Why Choose Us

Why Our Spray Foam Consulting Stands Out

Starting a spray foam insulation business — or running one efficiently — requires more than just buying a rig. From understanding the differences between A-side isocyanate and B-side polyurethane resin to dialing in the right pressure (900–1500 PSI depending on the application), proper training can mean the difference between profitable jobs and costly callbacks. At Sky Insulation, we've spent over two decades mastering every aspect of the spray foam trade. Our consulting services cover everything from machine startup and shutdown procedures, heater calibration (targeting around 118°F for optimal foam performance), TSL (Throat Seal Liquid) maintenance to keep your A-side pump from crystallizing, to pressure balancing with Y-strainer cleaning — the details that separate professionals from amateurs. Whether you just purchased your first proportioner and need hands-on training, or you're an experienced contractor looking to improve yield, reduce waste, and troubleshoot persistent issues like pressure imbalances or foam quality problems, our consulting services give you direct access to real-world knowledge that can't be learned from a manual alone.

Spray Foam Consulting

Real-World Expertise

Learn from 20+ years of daily spray foam experience — not textbook theory. We've sprayed thousands of jobs and seen every equipment issue and chemical challenge firsthand.

Reduce Waste & Callbacks

Proper temperature settings, pressure calibration, and spray technique mean better yield per barrel, fewer callbacks, and higher profit margins on every job.

Equipment Longevity

Correct startup/shutdown procedures, TSL maintenance, gun greasing, and park mode usage dramatically extend the life of your proportioner and spray equipment.

Safety & Compliance

Proper PPE selection (fresh air systems vs. organic vapor cartridges), chemical handling protocols, and ventilation practices protect your crew and keep you compliant.

FAQ

Common Questions About Spray Foam Consulting

A typical session covers equipment startup and shutdown procedures, pressure and heater calibration, chemical handling (A-side isocyanate and B-side polyurethane resin), PPE requirements, gun maintenance and greasing, TSL changes, Y-strainer cleaning, recirculation setup, and hands-on spray technique guidance.

Absolutely. We specialize in training new rig owners on everything from first-time startup to daily maintenance. We cover the full startup/shutdown/park cycle, heater temperature targets (typically 118°F for the A, B, and hose), pressure calibration (900–1500 PSI), and proper gun care.

At minimum, you need a fresh air system mask with a dedicated pump. If that's not available, a full-face respirator with organic vapor cartridges is required. You'll also need chemical-rated rubber gloves when handling isocyanate (A-side) or polyurethane resin (B-side), and standard spray foam PPE for application.

TSL (Throat Seal Liquid) lubricates the A-side pump and wet cup to prevent isocyanate crystallization. When the TSL gets cloudy or milky, it needs to be replaced — blow out the old line first, clean with a rag, refill halfway, and prime by squeezing until you see air bubbles move through the liquid.

A good sweet spot for most applications is around 1200 PSI. For wide-open ceilings or large areas, you can increase up to 1500 PSI. Never drop below 900 PSI. If you're seeing pressure imbalances between the A and B sides, check your Y-strainers — remove, clean with CU-6 solvent, and blow out with compressed air.

Recirculation mode routes the chemical from the barrels through the machine and hose, then back into the barrels — keeping the isocyanate (ISO) moving. If you're not spraying weekly, you should recirculate for at least 30 minutes each week to prevent the ISO from crystallizing in the hose.

We offer both on-site hands-on training (preferred for equipment operation) and remote consulting for business development, troubleshooting, and general guidance. On-site sessions are available throughout the Denver metro area and beyond.
